When I was a boy I had a few nicknames which were more orientated around making fun out of me as they normally are at school. I was very tall for my age so you can imagine all the terms such as lanky, daddy long legs, mountain, snow peak, questions like, ” is it cold up there”, can you see this far down, and so on but no nickname really stuck. One day we were in the playground and someone pulled out a packet of Murray Mints which were a butterscotch caramel sweetie with a soft mint Centre and they were handed out and as we chomped away in the sweeties someone said Hey, “Minty” to me and then someone else said yeah that’s a great name for you Murray, Minty as in Murray Mint sweets and so from then in I was called either Murray mints or more commonly known as “MINTY”
